Somatic Massage Therapy
Somatic massage therapy offers a gentle yet profound path to healing by honoring the body's innate wisdom.
It's a journey of attuning to the physical sensations where stress and trauma are held, allowing you to release old patterns and reconnect with your authentic self.
Discover how to move from just surviving to truly thriving.

Your Body Holds the Key to Your Healing
For so long, you may have tried to think your way out of pain, anxiety, or the echoes of trauma. You've talked, you've analyzed, and you've pushed through, yet a feeling of being stuck remains. It feels less like a thought and more like a deep hum beneath the surface—a tension in your shoulders, a knot in your stomach, a sense of being braced for an impact that never comes.

This is because your story is not just in your mind; it lives in your body.
Somatic therapy is a transformative approach that honors this truth. It gently guides you back to the wisdom held within your physical self, creating a safe space to listen to what your body has been trying to tell you.
Instead of just talking about your experiences, we will explore how they manifest as sensations, postures, and impulses, unlocking a deeper, more lasting form of healing.

What is Somatic Therapy?
The word "soma" comes from the ancient Greek for "the living body."
Somatic therapy is a holistic practice that sees the mind and body as one interconnected whole. It is founded on the understanding that our nervous system holds the imprint of every experience, especially stressful or traumatic ones.
When we go through something overwhelming, our bodies instinctively react with a fight, flight, or freeze response. If this survival energy isn't fully processed and released, it can become "trapped," leading to symptoms like:

-
Chronic anxiety or a constant feeling of dread
-
Unexplained physical pain, tension, or digestive issues
-
Feeling disconnected, numb, or detached from your body and emotions
-
Struggles with sleep, focus, and emotional regulation
-
A persistent sense of being unsafe, even when you know you are safe

Somatic therapy works from the "bottom-up." We don't start with the story; we start with the sensation. By gently bringing awareness to these physical imprints, we allow your nervous system to complete its natural healing cycle, releasing stored tension and restoring a sense of safety, wholeness, and ease.

How Does This Journey Unfold? A Look Inside a Session
Your therapy session is a sanctuary—a place where you are invited to slow down and be present with yourself, exactly as you are. Our work together is collaborative, gentle, and always paced to your comfort.

I recommend a 60 minute Neuro-somatic session for your somatic therapy needs. You are asked to wear or bring gym shorts (sports bra)
We will use a variety of gentle techniques to help you connect with your body's inner landscape:

-
Grounding: We begin by anchoring you in the present moment, using the physical senses to create a foundation of safety and stability.
-
Mindful Awareness: I will guide you to notice the subtle sensations in your body—perhaps warmth, tingling, tightness, or a sense of expansion—without any need to judge or change them.
-
Titration and Pendulation: We will gently touch upon difficult feelings or memories in small, manageable amounts (titration), and then guide you back to a place of resource and calm (pendulation). This process builds your nervous system's capacity and resilience, teaching it that it can handle distress without becoming overwhelmed.
-
Movement and Breath: We may incorporate gentle movements or breathwork to help your body release stored energy and tension in a way that feels empowering and natural.
This is not about re-living trauma; it is about gently discharging the energy of trauma. It is a process of reclaiming your body as a safe and wise home.

Who Can Benefit from Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy can be a powerful support for anyone seeking to heal from the roots of their distress. It is especially effective for those navigating:

-
Trauma and PTSD: From single-incident events to complex or developmental trauma.
-
Anxiety & Panic: Calming a nervous system that feels stuck in "high alert."
-
Depression: Gently moving through the physical heaviness and numbness.
-
Chronic Stress & Burnout: Releasing deep-seated tension and restoring balance.
-
Grief & Loss: Honoring the way loss is held and processed in the body.
-
Relationship Challenges: Understanding how your nervous system patterns show up in connections with others.
If you feel like you've tried everything but are still searching for lasting relief, somatic therapy may offer the missing piece.
